'The Dust' - Ian Siegal

£10.95

Solo C D from Ian Siegal - blues/roots/gospel/country this fine album has it all and more... A big favourite of ours! Ian Siegal records for Nugene Records, a very classy blues label with artists on it who whilst being rightly proud of playing blues music in their own various styles, can undoubtedly appeal to the whole range of people who can appreciate ALL great music rather than be contained in the niche market referred to as blues music as after all when any genre of music touches people's souls that's the blues. Your blues music news and reviews welcome - please send to berylguru@yahoo.co.uk After two highly successful band albums in 2005 and 2007, the clamour from fans for an acoustic album has produced THE DUST, a CD of nine studio tracks and three live recordings. With minimum production and maximum mood, Siegal delivers 12 powerful songs that reflect his personal taste in blues and rootsy Americana. Pedal-steel guitarist BJ Cole (Beck, Bjork, REM, Sting) makes an appearance on two tracks (Between The Stirrup and the Ground, and I'll Fly Away) while Siegal's singer-songwriter and photographer friend, Sam Hare, contributes two songs and adds guitar and second vocals to three tracks. The live tracks, including Siegal's perennial crowd-pleaser Mary Don't You Weep, were recorded at High Barn in Great Bardfield and The Running Horse in Nottingham. The Dust reflects Siegal's appreciation of music that isn't necessarily defined as blues (though every song is delivered with blues power!). The stripped down treatment brings to the fore the power of Siegal's voice and his guitar playing prowess. Ian Siegal: vocals, guitar, percussion BJ Cole: pedal steel guitar (t.5,8) Sam Hare: vocals, guitar (t.2,6,9) Nikolai Torp pump organ (t.9)
